Lash Extensions in Dubai: Classic vs Russian vs Hybrid and How to Choose

So you want lash extensions but the options are giving you decision paralysis. Classic? Russian? Hybrid? What do those even mean? And which one is going to give you the look you actually want?

You are not alone. This is genuinely the most common question our lash techs get asked at The Salon Dubai. The good news is that once you understand the difference between the three, choosing becomes really straightforward.

Let us break it all down so you can walk into your appointment knowing exactly what to ask for.

What Are Lash Extensions?

Lash extensions are individual synthetic fibres that are applied one by one (or in fans) onto your natural lashes using a semi-permanent adhesive. They add length, volume, and curl without mascara, strip lashes, or any daily effort.

The result? You wake up every morning with lashes that look full, defined, and done. No curlers, no falsies, no smudged mascara in the Dubai heat. Just open your eyes and go.

A full set typically takes around 90 minutes to two hours to apply, and results last three to four weeks before you need an infill.

Classic Lash Extensions

Classic lashes are the most natural-looking option. One extension fibre is applied to one natural lash, which is why you will sometimes hear it called a 1:1 ratio.

What they look like

Think "your lashes but better." Classic extensions add length and a subtle curl without looking overly dramatic. If someone compliments your lashes but cannot quite tell whether they are extensions, that is the classic effect.

Who they suit

  • Anyone who wants a natural, everyday look

  • First-timers who want to ease into lash extensions

  • Anyone with a decent amount of natural lashes already (classics work with what you have got)

What to know

Because it is one extension per natural lash, the fullness of your classic set depends on how many natural lashes you have. If your natural lashes are on the sparser side, classics might look a bit gappy. In that case, hybrid or Russian will give you more coverage.

  • Classic full set: 249 AED

  • Classic refill: 150 AED

Russian Volume Lash Extensions

Russian volume lashes (sometimes just called "volume lashes") use handmade fans of ultra-fine extensions applied to each natural lash. Instead of one fibre per lash, your tech creates tiny fans of two to six fibres, giving you significantly more volume and density.

What they look like

Full, fluffy, and glamorous. Russian lashes give that "wow, your lashes are incredible" effect. They are noticeably more dramatic than classics and create a darker, more defined lash line.

Who they suit

  • Anyone who wants maximum volume and drama

  • Anyone with naturally sparse lashes who wants a fuller look

  • Anyone who loves a glam finish for everyday

What to know

Despite using more fibres per lash, Russian volume extensions are made with ultra-fine, lightweight lashes. When applied properly, they should not feel heavier than classics. The key word there is "properly." This technique requires a skilled lash tech, which is why it is worth going to a salon with trained, experienced artists.

  • Russian full set: 299 AED

  • Russian refill: 175 AED

Hybrid Lash Extensions

Hybrid lashes are exactly what they sound like: a mix of classic and Russian volume techniques on the same set of eyes. Your lash tech will alternate between single extensions and volume fans to create a textured, multidimensional look.

What they look like

More than classic, less than full Russian. Hybrid lashes give you that "wispy" texture that is hugely popular right now. They look full and fluttery without being uniform or overly dense.

Who they suit

  • Anyone who wants something between natural and glam

  • Anyone who loves the wispy, textured lash trend

  • Anyone who found classics too subtle but is not ready for full volume

What to know

Hybrid sets are the most versatile option because your tech can adjust the ratio of classic to volume fans depending on the look you want. Want it more natural? They will lean heavier on classics. Want more drama? More volume fans. It is genuinely customisable.

  • Hybrid full set: 299 AED

  • Hybrid refill: 175 AED

How to Choose the Right Style

Still not sure?

Ask yourself these three questions.

How much drama do you want?

If you want lashes that enhance your eyes without screaming "extensions," go classic. If you want people to notice, go Russian. If you want something in between with a trendy, textured finish, go hybrid.

What are your natural lashes like?

If you already have a good amount of natural lashes, classics will look beautiful. If your natural lashes are fine or sparse, volume or hybrid will give you better coverage.

What is your lifestyle?

All three types last roughly the same amount of time and require the same aftercare. The choice really comes down to the look you are going for. If you are still unsure, tell your lash tech what vibe you want and let them recommend the best approach. That is literally what they are there for.

Lash Extension Aftercare

Getting your extensions is the fun part. Keeping them looking fresh is the easy part, as long as you follow a few simple rules.

  • Avoid water on your lashes for the first 24 hours. This gives the adhesive time to fully cure.

  • Do not use oil-based products near your eyes. Oil breaks down lash adhesive. Switch to oil-free makeup remover and micellar water.

  • Do not rub your eyes. Easier said than done, but rubbing loosens extensions and can pull out your natural lashes too.

  • Brush them daily. Use the spoolie your lash tech gives you to gently brush through your lashes each morning. Keeps them neat and separated.

  • Sleep on your back if you can. Sleeping face-down crushes your lashes against the pillow. A silk pillowcase helps if you are a side sleeper.

  • Book your infill every two to three weeks. Your natural lashes shed on their own cycle, so some extensions will fall out naturally. Infills keep your set looking full.

FAQs

How much do lash extensions cost in Dubai?

At The Salon Dubai, a classic full set is 249 AED, Russian volume is 299 AED, and hybrid is 299 AED. Refills start from 150 AED. All prices are subject to 5% VAT. Prices at other salons in Dubai range from around 200 AED to over 600 AED depending on the salon and technique.

How long do eyelash extensions last?

A full set of lash extensions typically lasts three to four weeks before you need an infill. Your natural lashes shed on a cycle, so some extensions will fall out naturally over time. Booking an infill every two to three weeks keeps your set looking full.

Do lash extensions damage your natural lashes?

Not when they are applied correctly. The key is going to a trained lash tech who uses the right weight and length for your natural lashes. Overloading natural lashes with extensions that are too heavy or too long can cause damage over time, which is why it matters where you go.

What is the difference between Russian and classic lashes?

Classic lashes use one extension per natural lash for a subtle, natural look. Russian volume lashes use handmade fans of two to six ultra-fine extensions per natural lash for a much fuller, more dramatic effect. Russian lashes give significantly more volume but should not feel heavier when applied correctly.

Which lash extension style is best for first-timers?

Classic lashes are the most popular choice for first-timers because the result is natural and not too dramatic. That said, if you already know you want more volume, there is no reason you cannot start with hybrid or Russian. Your lash tech can customise the look regardless of which style you choose.

Can I wear mascara with lash extensions?

You can, but most people find they do not need to. Lash extensions already give you length, curl, and definition. If you do want to add mascara, only use a water-based formula on the tips and avoid waterproof mascara entirely, as it requires oil-based removers that break down lash adhesive.

Your Sign to Finally Get the Lashes

If you have been thinking about lash extensions but keep putting it off, this is it. Pick your style, book your appointment, and prepare to wake up every morning with lashes that are already done.

WhatsApp us to book at any of our thirteen branches, or book through Fresha. If you are not sure which style to go for, just ask your lash tech on the day. They will help you figure it out.
