EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MICROBLADING

The ultra-defined brow trend is here to stay, so if you’re looking for a treatment to last, microblading brows could be what you’re looking for! If you don’t know, microblading uses a pigment similar to tattoo pigment that is drawn onto the skin and can last over a year.

So you’ve booked in. What happens at your appointment?

First, your brow artist will map out the brows to your desired shape. Don’t worry if you’re not sure, we can find you a shape to frame your face perfectly.

The second step is to apply a numbing cream to the area to make the treatment more comfortable. Now before you panic, most women find a microblading session to be less painful than threading. So if you’ve had threading before, you should barely notice it, though some less experienced clients report a light scratch sensation.

Once the numbing cream takes effect, your brow artist will individually draw the brow strokes to give perfect definition. The strokes will go over and around your natural hairs to give the appearance of fuller brows. The whole treatment will take around 2 hours.

You’ll need to care for your brows after your treatment. It’s important to not get the skin wet for 14 days. Our top tip is to use a plastic shield, ask your brow artist about this during your appointment! Your skin needs to hold the pigment, so avoid putting any creams or makeup on the brows either. And finally, avoid the sunlight during the first 2 weeks.

Now what?

Over the next 48 hours, the top layer of skin will darken. Do not judge your new brows with how they look just yet, as this is darker than they will be.

After around 7 days, your skin may be dry and flaky. If you have oily skin, you might find that the healing process is faster.

After 2 weeks, your your dryness should reduce and your brow strokes might seem a little faint. Again, this is not their final appearance!

After week 3, they will reappear in all their glory! But the process isn’t over yet. We recommend having your retouch appointment at around week 6.

Your retouch appointment will be the same treatment and will take 1.5 hours, as there is no need to map the brows out. However, if you would like to make any amendments to the shape, your brow artist can help you with this at this stage.

After your retouch, you’ll go through the same healing process once again with the same aftercare tips. Once you’re all done, your microbladed brows will last 12-18 months, depending on your aftercare.

Caring for your brows

Now that your brows are transformed, make the most of your new look by treating them like a colour you want to protect. Always make sure you use SPF on the area, and avoid any peels, exfoliators and harsh toners on the area.
