The summer heat is well and truly upon us and whether you’re enjoying a staycation or sipping cocktails at a beach club, it’s vital to look after your skin. After a long day soaking in the sun’s rays it will thank you for taking care of a few basics.
Clean off and moisturise
After slathering on layer upon layer of sunscreen and swimming in salt water, it's definitely time to come clean and wash all the product and elements off of your skin and hair. Sun and salt may be very dehydrating to your skin, so you need to moisturize immediately after your shower.
Skip the exfoliation
Don’t exfoliate after a day on the beach as the combination of sand and sea breezes act as a natural exfoliant. Cleanse your face gently to ensure all sunscreen is removed before applying a moisturiser.
Extra care for the lips
Lips can easily become sunburned, so hopefully, you applied an SPF lip balm throughout the day. Even if you did, your lips might still feel dry after a day at the beach. Slather on a lip balm for comfort!
Don't forget the best tip of all - drink some water!
Before you head out for your evening cocktails, drink plenty of water to restore moisture levels to your skin. Try sipping water with your evening meal too; it will help to limit the double whammy of hangover and skin dehydration the next morning which is never a great look for a day at the beach.
